The Einstein 1000 Flex is a part of Nebo's new line of head torches, named after the famous physicist Einstein!

This head torch utilises flex power technology which allows the torch to be powered by a customised rechargeable 18650 lithium-ion battery (included) or the Einstein 1000 Flex can also use two CR123A lithium metal batteries, which is perfect as a back up if you run out of charge and are away from a power source or need to continue using the torch while the battery is being recharged. The batteries sit on the back of the headband in a separate battery holder to evenly distribute the weight.

The customised 18650 lithium-ion battery features a USB-C port built into the top of the battery so that it can be charged outside of the torch using the included USB-C to USB-A cable via a USB power source. While charging is in progress an LED indicator glows red and turns green once charging is complete.

Dual white LEDs output a bright beam of 1000 lumens on the turbo output, which is designed as a boost setting, allowing 10 seconds output at a time in order to prevent the temperature of the torch becoming too high and thus protecting the LED. The high output is a constant setting of 350 lumens with a run-time of 3 hours, and mid, low and red outputs are also available.

Red light is useful for night reading, animal spotting and preserving night vision, and the flashing red light is good for attracting attention, making it useful for in the car or on camping trips. A separate red LED sits in the middle of the white LEDs, and can be directly accessed so that all important night vision is not disturbed.

Operation is easy with the single easy push button on the top of the head light. With each press of the power button the Einstein 1000 Flex cycles through high, mid, low, red and off. If the torch is in any mode for longer than 8 seconds then the next press will turn the light off rather than cycling through the modes.

Turbo is activated by holding down the power button when the light is on and will last for 10 seconds before reverting to the previous mode, or quicker by pressing the button again. Direct access to red is achieved by holding down the button while the light is off, and then if desired each press within 8 seconds will cycle through the modes backwards.

The hinged bracket allows the torch to be rotated within a 60° angle to direct the beam where you need it.

Note: The above run-times are based on the included rechargeable battery. Runtime is reduced by about 20% when using 2 x CR123A batteries.
